SOLITAIRE

Objective

The goal of Klondike Solitaire is to move all the cards to the four foundation piles, each sorted by suit in ascending order from Ace to King.

Setup

Deck

A standard 52-card deck (no jokers) is used.

Board

The game starts with seven columns:

• The first column has 1 card.
• The second column has 2 cards.
• The third column has 3 cards, and so on, up to the seventh column, which has 7 cards.
• Only the top card of each column is face-up; the others are face-down.

Foundation Piles

These are the four empty piles at the top of the screen where the cards will be built by suit from Ace to King.

Waste and Stockpiles

The remaining cards form the stockpile, which is drawn from to make moves. Cards from the stockpile go to the waste pile when they can't be played directly onto the board or foundation.

Gameplay

Moving Cards

• You can move the top card of any column to either another column or to the foundation piles.
• Cards on the board can only be placed on a card that is one rank higher and of the opposite color (red on black or black on red).
• For example, a red 6 can only be placed on a black 7.
• If a column becomes empty, you can place a King (along with any cards attached to it) into that empty space.

Building the Foundation

• Cards must be moved to the foundation piles in ascending order and by suit.
• You can move Aces to the foundation piles whenever they become available.

Drawing from the Stock

• You can draw cards from the stockpile. You can draw three cards at a time.
• The drawn card(s) are placed in the waste pile, and the top card of the waste pile can be played onto the board or foundation.

Winning the Game

The game is won when all cards are successfully moved to the foundation piles.

Additional Rules

• Stock Recycle: You can freely recycle the stockpile up to 3 times. After the third recycle, each additional recycle will result in a score penalty.
